Todays Shoot - All That Remains studio report day 6 - FINAL

Well this is it, the last of many excellent trips to the studio, and sadly the last I will hear of the new record for a while (and it is OH so good).

Today was the big interview (video, obviously) Where I was to interview the band, and then Adam D.

Jeremy (Razor and Tie) and well as EJ (prosthetic) was there to do the whole: check out the new jams, have a meeting with the band, thing. So I snagged a couple of shots of everyone hanging out.

I didnt take alot of photos because it was mostly a video day, but toward the end I got photos of ATR together with Adam, Solo, and with Jim.

For those shots I used the 24-70 - all natural lighting F18 at a 200th at ISO400 - which looking back I should have been at F14 or so due to the clouds coming in/out/in that day, and obviously covering up the sun when we did those photos - but whatever - a quick level bump and its good. (which i did) - then for the shots of jim with atr - the settings were the same just the speed was at a 160th

I always love working with these dudes, because they are like a second family to me, and treat me as such, if not better.

After the shoot we ended up going to hooters for umm 6 hours. best/worst idea ever. haha.

Be sure to keep your eyes open for the videos from this to go online, and for the new record to drop like on Hiroshima.

Todays Shoot - All That Remains studio report day 5 - DOUBLE DOWN!

The night before we went to the Hangar! (mike, adam, myself, and a few others) - to eat wings and be awesome.

Adam and I have been discussing a day to have a DOUBLE DOWN challenge - for those who dont know - a double down is the new KFC thing thats two peices of fried chicken for buns - bacon and cheese in the middle

SO! gluttons as we are - we decided thursday (today) would be the double down day - as well as mike martin day!

I rolled up around 1 and was supossed to get 3 double downs... soooo i got 5.

I figured the three of us would kill five of them easy - but oli was there - and i offered one to him as well

so the challenge was who could eat this heart-attack sandwich and want MORE?!

yeah... all of us.

we each ate the first one - then the last was split in half - i got one half - mike and adam split the other half

so i ate the most and thereby won but i think if it came down to it - we could have probably each put down three or more - they arent very filling

anyway

THE CHALLENGERS (not pictured: me)

THE AFTERMATH

My take on the double down - which was the general commentary - was that it was REALLY good - REALLY REALLY GOOD - but not very filling. so maybe not worth it if you are at risk for a heart attack - and even if youre healthy - eating two of these to fill yourself up will probably cause heart failure (update on if that happens, tomorrow)

Anyway - after we finished eating awesome food and being fat (two things im pretty pro at!) Mike did some solos and over dubs

then THE TALK BOX! - now - on video you'll really understand how awesome this is - but - oh man - it projects the sound into that tube which goes into your mouth - reshaping the sound - and projecting into the mic - in other words - its fucking awesome

anyway - on all of these photos - they were all 40D with the 16-35 2.8 - my flash batts were SUPER low and i left all the back ups for it at the studio - so i went manual and shot the flash power to 1/4th and dropped my fstop down to a 5.6 for most shots - iso 400 - speed between a 10th - 30th

working with friends always rules - one of the best days in a while - much needed and super awesome. wish every day shooting was this much fun

Todays Shoot - Adam D / All That Remains studio report day 4

Today I was doing another studio report day for my good friends in All That Remains, but was also doing an endorsement photo for the mighty Adam D of Killswitch Engage (who is currently recording the new and VERY KILLER - ATR record)

When I got to the studio Phil was out getting lunch, so I started off with a quick photo sesh with Adam for Takamine

I wanted to do something different with an acoustic guitar - it was a gloomy dark day - so I figured doing a very metal looking dismal image with an acoustic would make the warm tones pop a whole bunch and look very cool

I shot these with the mark 2 1ds 24-70 lens at F20 at a 160th - iso400. - I used to umbrellas almost split but pointed in a bit to make the lighting a bit flatter but to also blend the area a bit more and really get the lighting on the guitar perfect.

see two images below

After that we went inside and I did some candids of him playing/hanging out with the guitar - this time natural light - again - its DARK in there so i shot at iso1600 f2.8 at a 30th and got some shots with a solid selective focus on the headstock - a couple unedited images below

I haven't really been posting all the studio days on here - because - its alot of the same shot differently - so with that - for todays shoot im only going to post a couple shots real quick

I shot these with the 40D - using the 24-70 2.8 - at 2.8 at iso1600 (its super dark in there) - and at a 20th - 30th (skkeeetttchhhh).

Its so dark in that room that when phil was looking at his phone for a sec, the light on his phone was WAY brighter then the lighting in that room.
